The Sneevla is live!

Well, it's been a long wait, punks, but the Sneevla is finally here and available on Amazon! Get in there!

Marny is taking a well-deserved holiday in Siena, Italy. However, almost before he’s settled in to a posh hotel, a new art display in a local gallery starts to turn hordes of tourists into zombies. With the Sprite Squadron spotted in the town he’s sure who’s behind it, but as he soon discovers these are not just ordinary zombies, and he can only hope that Russell can get there in time. Will Russell have what it takes to defeat the powers of the mysterious artifact known as the Sneevla? For this time, not only will there be a clash of friend against foe, but friend against friend . . .

Beat Down is #1!

Hey punks, been a while since Michael S. was coming at ya, so apologies for that. Been busy building a space station. Just thought I'd point out that Beat Down 1 - Clones is currently #1 in the Kindle Free Humour list. That's badass.

Got a few jobs on but Beat Down 4 - The Sneevla is in the can and will be coming out soon!

Rock on,

The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

I recently got tagged in a blog hop by my friend, badass and former priestess of Valhalla Wai Chim, so as you punks have been literally mailing me daily asking for updates I thought I'd relent and let you know how it goes. Thanks to Wai for passing this on to me. You rock.

Here's all the legal jargon from on high -

The rules for the blog hop are as follows:

****Give credit to the person/blog that tagged you

**** Post the rules for the blog hop

****Answer these ten questions about your current WIP (Work In Progress) on your blog

****Tag five other writers/bloggers and add their links so we can hop over and meet them.

Ten Interview Questions for The Next Big Thing:

What is the working title of your book?

All right, my next in progress novella is Beat Down 4 - The Sneevla. Wanna know what a Sneevla is? Yeah, I bet you do. Just trust me, it's badass. In fact, it's so badass it's possibly going to end the world unless Russell and crew can get in there and open up some Beat Down in time.

Where did the idea come from for the book?

Basically, I was out in the garden with the cat catching some rays on my chiseled torso when this UFO just appeared out of nowhere. These two green guys got out. They had mohawks, so I was like, "What's up, you punks?" One of them handed me this stone tablet and said, "Michael S., you're the only human we know of who's badass enough to write this story for us." I was touched, as you would be, but when I took a look at their story I saw it was lame. I crushed the stone tablet with my bare hands, shoved those punks back into their flying saucer thing and tossed it back to Mars or wherever the hell it came from. Then I sat down to write something more badass than what they had shown me. That's basically it.

What genre does your book fall under?

It’s comedy with little slices of action, sci-fi and fantasy thrown in there. And romance, I suppose, since Belinda's always trying to get Russell to marry her even though he's more interested in haircare products and stuff.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Dude, that's a difficult question. I'm not sure there's anyone badass enough on earth to play Russell except myself, but I'm not dealing with those Hollywood punks. Maybe Chuck Norris could play Rip, because he's old but cool. For Cap'n Nerv you'd have to find someone who only has one hand and one leg, which could be tricky.  Marny is kind of undersized for a 19-year old so you'd probably want to get a hobbit or something.  Do they exist?  Belinda, well . . . just pick who's the hottest chick currently on the planet.  She'd do.  Kurt Sniveller and the Sprite Squadron . . . well, I'd just CGI them in.  Kind of sucks for some poor actor having to play those bounders.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Zombies, airships, marshmallows, and classic art = The Sneelva.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

I get bombarded daily by publishers demanding to get their hands on Beat Down!, but I'm keeping it underground for now. Keeping it real. I don't want some punk saying, "Hey, Michael, we really don't want marshmallows in this scene", because then I'd have to break a rock over his head and I don't really advocate violence unless someone's being a bounder and needs a good Beat Down!.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

14 seconds. Seriously. People always doubt me on this but it's true. The rest of the time I'm too busy opening fanmail.  That's why I only write novellas.  I don't have time to write full length novels.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Beat Down 1, 2, and 3. That's it. There's nothing out there that's anywhere near as good.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

The fans. Definitely the fans. Every day I get this mailbox full of letters and I'm like, "Guys, can you not use email? We've got trees to save." Therefore I set out with Beat Down! not only to entertain the hell out of them but to teach them a thing or two about the environment. Russell is, of course, a warrior for green energy. A lot of people forget that because he's always busy kicking Kurt Sniveller's butt but a central thread of the Beat Down! series is protecting the environment.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

It’s awesome, simple as that. Don’t listen to me, just read it and tell me I'm wrong, which you won't because I'm not. $1.49 per episode. That's like the bargain to end all bargains.

And the writers I'm tagging are -

The badass Jeanette Raleigh who writes awesome murder mysteries. Check her out.

The awesome Traci Hilton who writes badass cozy mysteries that rock almost as hard as my part time band.  Go take a look.

(and a few others once I get their details in)

Right, laters, punks. This is Michael S. Hunter signing off.

Clones is Free Dec 26th

All right punks, Merry Xmas and all that.  You probably didn't see Santa because he came round mine to play some Playstation and talk about the next Beat Down novella, after which we drank a couple of crates of eggnog.  Apparently when he got back the elves decided to shave his beard for a laugh, so you might not see him next year either, depending on how long it takes to grow back.  In which case, never fear as Michael S. Hunter here will deliver you some presents instead.  I hope you like crushed rocks . . .

Anyway, I digress.  I just wanted to stop by and tell you that as a thanks for all the dozens of Christmas presents you punks have sent me I'm putting Beat Down 1 - Clones up for free just for one day, today - Dec 26th.  Boxing Day.  Which is awesome, because Russell T. Goode is a wrestler, which is almost the same as a boxer . . . all right, never mind.

Clones is free today only.  Get to it.

Badassaur cover reveal

All right, punks.  You asked for it.  I've got an early Christmas present for all you Beat Down! fans - the first look at the cover for Beat Down 3 - Badassaur!.  Is that not just frighteningly good?  Seriously, stop weeping with joy.  Knock it off.

As always, cover pic is by the badass Slamet Mujiono, with titles by the awesome Su Halfwerk.  And if you haven't, sign up for the new releases mailing list on the right of this post so you know when this monster is released on the world.  Tentative date is Jan 7th, earlier if I can eat up all the Xmas leftovers in time to get to it before the new year.

Here comes the Badassaur.  Look out!

Beat Down 3 - Badassaur! update

Hey punks, Michael S. Hunter here.  Just wanted to give you all a status update on Beat Down 3 because I know you're getting a little itchy about progress.

It's done!

Well, drafted at least.  I finished the beast a couple of nights ago after which I went out into the garden, dug a pit with my bare hands and buried it under a pile of rocks to allow it to mature for a while.  The cover has been commissioned so once that's done I'll post a preview online.  Judging by the timeframe we should be live by the New Year, but I'll try to push the bad boy out as a Christmas present for you all if I can.

Talking of Christmas, what are you all up to this year?  All my friends are getting awesome rocks wrapped up in sheets of steel.  Can't think of anything more hardcore than that.  And to save on postage I'll be throwing them direct into their back gardens from here so if you're taking any flights over the Christmas period keep an eye out.

What can we expect from Beat Down 4, I hear you ask?  Well, Beat Down 4 - The Sneevla ("Michael, you badass, what the hell is a "Sneevla"?" I hear you ask - well, you'll have to wait and see!) is already underway.  With a bit of luck it should be drafted and under that pile of rocks by New Year.

Any more future plans?

Hell, yeah.  After Episode 5 I'll be looking at getting a paperback omnibus edition out for all you punks.  That should be awesome.

Right, a crate of mince pies just showed up and I need to go get stuck in.  I spent all morning bench-pressing a two-ton piece of granite so I reckon I've earned it.

Take care out there, this is Michael S. Hunter signing out.

Beat Down 2 - The Heist hits No.1!

Hey there, punks.  Just wanted to say a big thanks to all you badasses as well as give myself a pat on the literary back because thanks to you (and of course to me because I wrote it, haha) Beat Down 2 - The Heist is sitting proudly at No.1 on the Hot New Releases list in the Amazon Kindle Comedy store.

Here's the pic to prove it (as if you'd ever doubt me!) -

Once again, I'd just like to say thanks to all the punks who bought this.  Seriously, if you guys were here I'd share a bottle of badass champagne with you, but alas, as you're not I'll just drink it all myself.  In fact, I just did.  Badass.

Big up also to Slamet Mujiono, whose awesome cover pic is no doubt responsible for some of the adoration Russell T. Goode is picking up.  Dude, you rock.  And Belinda, man's she's smokin'.  So glad I made her up.

Okay, off to smash some rocks with my bare hands.
